Desktop & Web
Two editions. One way of keeping books.
TallyCheck Desktop and TallyCheck Web share the same screens, the same features and the same accounting rules. The only question is where it runs.
Choose Desktop when…
- one person (or a small office) keeps the books
- you want it to work with no internet at all
- you'd rather not run a server
Choose Web when…
- several people work in the books at once
- staff work from different places
- you have (or want) a server the company controls

Questions
Choosing an edition
Are the features different?
Almost none. Invoicing, banking, stock, reports, sales tax, imports, integrations and Claude are in both, with the same screens. US payroll is in Web today and is coming to Desktop.
Can I start on Desktop and move to Web later?
Yes — the books and the rules are the same. Talk to us when you're ready and we'll help you move your data across and check that the figures match.
Where is my data kept?
With Desktop, on your own PC. With Web, on a server you choose and control. Either way it is not stored on our systems.
Does the Web edition need the internet?
Only if people work from outside the office. On an office network it works with no internet connection at all.
Should I run both for the same company?
No. Keep one set of books for each company, on one edition. Two separate copies of the same books would drift apart.
See your books the way they should be.
Pick the edition that fits. You can move from one to the other later.
TallyCheck Web
